Visual Samples: Graphics & GIS
Below are some samples of my graphic design work, a hobby that I've incorporated into publicity and social media positions, volunteering, and internships. I've also included a few of the maps that I've made with GIS (Geographic Information System) software, modeling environmental and social patterns.

GIS Maps

The map depicts the potential impact of sea level rise on Miami, Florida, showing that even a moderate sea level increase of 3.8 feet would result in widespread flooding, submerging significant portions of the city.
The findings highlight that with a more extreme rise of 8.4 feet, entire cities such as Hialeah and Sweetwater would be completely flooded, displacing large populations and affecting infrastructure; this underscores the urgent need for effective flood control measures and climate change mitigation efforts.

The maps shown to the right foreshadow the significant risks posed to public schools in Los Angeles County by the proximity of oil and gas wells, with GIS analysis showing that 62% of all public schools in the county are within a mile of an oil or gas well.
Proposals for a response include stricter regulations and preventive measures, particularly in high-risk areas like South LA County, to protect the 1,218 schools within this range from the environmental and health hazards associated with these wells, including the dangers of fracking.

The series to the left depicts the distribution of demographic and economic variables across Los Angeles County. Central LA has the highest concentrations of foreign-born and Native American individuals, and often higher median gross rents. Meanwhile, regions further from the city center, particularly north LA county, exhibit lower rents but longer average travel times.
LA's urbanization yields higher economic activity and population density, yet with more diversity there also seem to be economic disparities. The best approach may be targeted urban planning to balance development with accessibility and affordability across different regions.
